Project management is the ââ¬Å"application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to a project activities to meet project requirements.â⬠(A). Part of the being a project manager is understanding the ten knowledge areas which consists of scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource management, communications management, risk management, procurement management and stakeholder management. With the roll out of the Affordable Healthcare Act there were many issues that occurred. It was an extremely large project and like most projects especially IT projects it failed in the beginning. Project management played a key role in the in and outs of the Healthcare Act. One of the most important steps in the project knowledge areas is scope management. Scope management is when the details of the project is laid out and attached to the details is good definition. This is key to a successful project because it will lay out the time, cost and resources needed for the project. During this knowledge area time is where all the work that is involved becomes clear to the project manager and in turn will help set up a timeline. The timeline will also influence the cost of the project. The scope statement also comes out of the scope management and this statement will state what deliverables the project needs to produce.
